Gledpark 1837

Gledhill is a working Cattle Farm and Deer Park situated in the middle of the wonderful Borgue peninsular between Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse-of-Fleet. Rupert owns and runs the business and is a passionate advocate of sustainable farming, providing the highest level of animal welfare for his herd of Red Deer and Rare-Breed Cattle. Rupert has been providing training and support for me as I progress through the DSC1 and DSC2 Deer Management program, developing my understanding of the full farm-to-fork process.

I first met Rupert when I was looking at making the jump from retail to farming. He helped steer me along that path and was incredibly helpful and informative. Shortly after visiting Gledpark I won Farmers Weekly Farmers Apprentice, in no small part thanks to the lessons I learnt there. I am now putting together a tender for a farm tenancy and the principles behind the business plan are certainly a reflection on the lessons I learnt from Rupert. I would highly recommend a visit for anyone looking at starting a career in agriculture.
